Icon International provided production services in Barcelona for the French-Canadian travel series Allons Boire Ailleurs, produced by Sphere Media for TV5 Québec Canada. The series explores cultures around the world through their traditional drinks, using food, hospitality and local customs as a gateway to understanding the people and places behind every destination.

For the Barcelona episode, the production moved beyond familiar tourist attractions to discover the city’s neighbourhood traditions, family-run businesses and vibrant social culture. Icon arranged filming at a traditional orxata bar, where the hosts explored Catalonia’s iconic tiger nut drink and the craftsmanship behind its production; a classic vermut bar on the coast north of Barcelona, capturing one of the region’s most enduring social rituals; and a cava winery in the renowned Penedès wine region, where the series delved into the heritage and production of Spain’s world-famous sparkling wine. Together, these carefully selected locations celebrated the richness and diversity of Catalan food and drink culture while providing authentic experiences that shaped the narrative of the episode.

Working closely with the creative team, Icon contributed far beyond traditional production support. Alongside production management, location scouting, filming permits and local logistics, our team proposed original filming locations, developed editorial ideas and helped shape the episode through authentic, place-driven storytelling. Every location was carefully selected not only for its visual appeal but for the people, traditions and experiences it could bring to the narrative.

Lifestyle and travel productions depend on genuine local knowledge as much as efficient logistics. By combining creative collaboration with seamless production delivery, Icon helped the visiting Canadian crew capture a richer and more authentic portrait of Barcelona—one built around real communities, memorable encounters and the everyday rituals that define Catalan culture.

The finished programme reflects the value of local expertise that extends beyond production management, illustrating how thoughtful location development and cultural insight can elevate international factual programming.
