In the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, as film and television production around the world came to an abrupt halt, Done + Dusted turned to Icon International to help deliver a unique remote performance for Disney’s Disney Family Singalong.
Building on a long-standing relationship established through multiple Laureus World Sports Awards productions, Done + Dusted entrusted Icon with filming Shakira’s performance of Try Everything, the hit song from Disney’s Zootopia, at her home in Barcelona. With international travel impossible and production teams unable to operate as normal, the project required a carefully managed local solution that maintained broadcast-quality standards while respecting strict health and safety protocols.
Icon provided the camera equipment and local production support, enabling Shakira to record the performance from her home for inclusion in the globally televised special. Working with a minimal footprint, the production demonstrated how experienced local crews could overcome unprecedented logistical challenges while delivering content to international broadcasters during one of the most disruptive periods the industry has experienced.
Produced at a time when much of the world’s film and television production had ground to a standstill, the project reflects the value of trusted international partnerships and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. It also marked another successful collaboration between Icon International and Done + Dusted, built on years of working together on some of the world’s most prestigious live television events.
